My name is John, a 70-year-old American who now resides in beautiful Lake Chapala, Mexico. For the past six years, this serene place has been my refuge, not by choice, but out of necessity due to limited financial resources. Alongside me in this journey are my beloved Mexican wife and her handicapped adult daughter, both of whom depend on me. Our modest life is sustained by my Social Security pension of $1,820 USD per month, a sum that barely covers our basic needs. 

In 2020, I was diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition that has progressively worsened over time. Despite being benign, my prostate has grown to the size of a large orange, causing me unbearable discomfort and frequent urinary tract infections due to my inability to fully empty my bladder. The prescribed medication, Tamsulosin, now offers minimal relief, and my quality of life has significantly deteriorated. 

After consulting with a specialist in Guadalajara, I was advised to undergo HOLAP procedure laser surgery to remove my enlarged prostate gland. However, the cost of this life-changing surgery is 100,000 pesos (approximately $5,000 USD), an amount far beyond my reach. With no medical insurance, maxed-out credit cards, and living month to month with less than $1,000 to my name, the financial barrier to this necessary treatment seems insurmountable. 

I am reaching out to you, the community of Good Samaritans, in hopes of finding support to fund this critical surgery. My family and I have no one else to turn to; my wife, after years of hard work as a housekeeper, is now physically unable to work due to chronic pain in her knees, feet, and wrists.
