About this fundraiser

My name is Tania Savat and I am setting up this medical fundraiser for my sister, Cherie Broome Duckworth.  Last week, Friday, April 28th, 2023, she got the diagnosis of having Colon Cancer after having a colonoscopy. Monday, May 1, 2023, she and I met with a surgeon to find out the course of action.

The findings were as follows:
1) it’s not just one place it’s 3.
2) she will have the first of possibly 3 , but definitely at least 2 surgeries Thursday, May 11th.
3) she’s having a CT scan this Thursday to determine how close the 2 places are in the transverse and descending colon to see if it will require 1 or 2 separate surgeries for those areas as well as see if the cancer has metastasized (spread.)
4) we will not know the stage of cancer until surgeries are done and pathology is completed on each area/lesions.
5) if pathologists states 1 or 2, no chemo or radiation will be needed at this time. If 3 or more, she will needs chemo and possibly radiation.
6) with the surgery/surgeries involving the transverse and descending colon, there is a high probability that they will need to remove 60% of her colon.

This was a lot of information to digest in one office visit, but I plan to be with my sister for her entire battle.

This is in God’s hands. We were raised with strong faith and we have seen Him work miracles in our lifetime.

Cherie is still working at this time; however, she has run out of any paid time off, sick time and vacation time. All appointments, surgeries and recovery times from this point on will be with without pay. She still has copays and prescriptions that are added expenses.

Cherie’s first of definitively 2, but possibly 3 surgeries will be this Thursday, May 11th in Baton Rouge.

I will make updates to this post as more procedures and surgeries are completed.

Thank you so much for reading about her story. Please share this with your friends and family.
Lastly, please, ✅ UR : (check your colon.)
