About this fundraiser

First, let me tell you about Chris. He is the type of person who would take the shirt off of his back to help someone. He doesn’t ask for or expect anything in return. He dishes out the food to us first before putting food on his own plate to make sure we all have enough to eat. Twice just this past week, Chris helped an 82 year old woman make her broken down trailer safer for her to live in until she moves out the end of this month. Another older woman who we found out had recent hip replacement surgery needed help in a store with heavy items she was purchasing. Chris went right over to assist her.

Chris recently found out that he has an infection growing in his upper jaw that needs to be removed immediately or it will eat away at the rest of his jaw bone. The infection can also cause serious health concerns beyond his mouth including spreading to his sinuses, causing bone death, and even blood infections as bacteria can enter the bloodstream causing serious illnesses.

Chris needs extensive oral surgery that will last between 4-6 hours during which, all of his teeth need to be removed. The surgeons need to scrape out all of the infection. Because of the extent of damage the infection has caused in his jaw, Chris is not a candidate for dentures. Chris was told that he’s not even eligible for snap-in implants because they will further damage any jaw bone left behind. Chris only has one option – full dental implants. During the surgery, 8 implants will be placed in his mouth. The hope is that new bone will grow around the implants strengthening them. The healing process will take 3-4 months. During that time, Chris will only be able to eat soft foods. This will be a challenging time for him. After the doctor feels his jaw has healed enough, he will have his new permanent implants installed.

If anyone has ever researched dental implants, they would have found out that dental insurance does NOT cover implants. The doctor’s office does not even accept any insurance. This procedure is a complete out-of-pocket expense… and the bill is HUGE. So huge that they offer an 11 YEAR pay-back period!

I am not asking for big donations as I’m sure all of us have expenses in our lives. I’m simply asking for ANYTHING at all that you could spare to help Chris out with this medical bill. Chris has not had an easy life, yet through it all, he remained a kind, caring, loving, shy man… and he needs help. Whatever you could spare would be appreciated more than you could ever comprehend. Thank you in advance.
