Hello to everyone. I am hoping to extend some help to Kristen and her daughter Jamie.

Kristen is not one to ask for help, and I know all too well how that is and how no matter how we may try to prepare, sometimes, we just cannot be prepared for illness.

Jamie is a 17 yo Junior at Clover Hill High and active in the Marching band. Jamie has had this VP shunt since she was 2 weeks old due to bilateral brain bleeds at that time, but thankfully had not had issues in 12 years. 

However on December 4th, 2025

 Jamie had a seizure that would not subside due to her VP shunt failing and lasted about 45 minutes. She continues with elevated pressures inside of the brain due to fluid accumulation.  Kristen had to have her taken to hospital and was admitted then to the PICU.

 Since her admission she has Neurosurgery involved and ongoing management of Medications. However, despite several weeks (DEC 4-Dec 18th) in the hospital and being discharged, Jamie had to be readmitted on 12-23 thru 12-30 and now readmitted again on Jan 3rd. 

She has undergone her third surgery with the admission on her shunt. They have now placed intra-cranial pressure monitor to evaluate the fluid on her brain, and has the lumbar drain. Neurosurgery is saying she will still be there another week for monitoring and recovery.

Kristen has been out of work since the first admission, when we discovered despite having short term and long term disability, they only cover us as the employee, not when we miss for our children.
