Hi, my name is Daniel, and I’m 13 years old. A six months ago, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease, and life has changed a lot. I’m learning to manage blood sugar checks, insulin, food restrictions, and all the unexpected highs and lows that come with T1D.

I’m also a student-athlete who plays tennis, and keeping my blood sugar stable during practices and matches can be really tough. Sometimes it drops suddenly, and that can be scary when I’m out on the court. A Diabetic Alert Dog can help warn me before that happens, keep me safe during sports, and give me the confidence to keep doing what I love.

This dog would help protect me physically, but it would also help me feel less anxious and more independent—at school, at practice, and at home. It would let me focus on being a kid again instead of worrying all the time.
