About this fundraiser

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted community members

In late July, Rachel, one of my dearest friends in this lifetime, endured a life altering experience that has profoundly affected her life. While traveling home from the grocery store on a scooter, she took a wrong turn which led her to the end of a street that had a road closure and was not able to be traveled upon. She immediately turned around, and upon doing so, seen the image of many figures walking towards her from every side of her. She was mugged by a group of ten or so young men. A traumatic event that has left her not just with physical scars, but deep emotional wounds as well. We are incredibly grateful that she was not extremely physically injured. They did push her off/down onto the ground and violently removed the backpack from her body. They then demanded her cellphone. The psychological impact has been significant.

During the attack, Rachel lost much more than her wallet, credit and banking cards, she also lost irreplaceable sentimental photos of her loved ones—photos that can never be replaced. This loss has added a layer of grief to her healing journey, as these were precious memories tied to her sense of security and happiness. She had also been saving up cash to take her mom on a trip to Graceland, a lifelong dream of hers that Rachel wants to fulfill. While the amount of cash might seem modest to some, it represents a substantial loss to Rachel, who works tirelessly and will need a substantial amount of time to rebuild her finances.

She does not want to ask for help. She is humble and does not want to be a burden to anyone. I believe this is the time to show up for her.

Rachel has always been a beacon of hope and inspiration to those around her, showing incredible strength and resilience through adversity. Now, it’s our turn to show her that the world remains kind and compassionate.

She has been struggling with increased anxiety, especially when traveling after dark or encountering headlights, a constant reminder of the fear she faced. Her sense of safety and trust in the world has been deeply shaken, and she’s working hard to rebuild her life from this emotional setback.

The funds raised will help Rachel replace the essential items she lost: a new ID, replacement cards, and to recover some of the financial loss that she faces. Who knows?! Maybe she will be able to feel the dream of taking her mom to Graceland sooner than she thinks! More importantly, this support will offer her the reassurance that humanity is still kind and good, just like she has always been to others.

We invite you to join us in showing Rachel that she is not alone, that her strength has inspired us all, and that we are here to support her during this challenging time. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference and help Rachel begin to heal and rebuild her life.

Thank you for your generosity and kindness. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on Rachel's journey towards recovery and renewal.

With gratitude and hope,

Her faithful Best Friend.
