In 2011, our dear friend (like family to us) Gordon Decker was diagnosed with stage 4 advanced prostate cancer and given just 6 to 18 months to live. But Gordon is a fighter! Fourteen years later, he's still here, defying the odds every single day!!
Unfortunately, in 2017, the cancer metastasized to his bones, and more recently, to his neck, back, and lungs. Despite these daunting challenges, Gordon's bloodwork (and fighting spirit!) remains strong! Thanks to a possible new treatment called Pluvicto, he's been given a hopeful 15-month extension. Every extra day is a victory, but the cost of staying alive is overwhelming.
Gordon and his wife are currently facing a financial crisis. He's been out of work since April 20th and is not eligible for short-term disability. The monthly costs of staying alive are mounting:
- Medical expenses: $20,410.45 in 2024, not including several supplements
- Medical travel: 22,134 miles just in 2024 to infusion centers in Athens, Conyers, and Atlanta from their home in Dahlonega (his 2003 Subaru Baja has over 360k miles and is barely holding it together)
- Car repairs: $3,867.47 in 2024, still calculating the totals for this year...
- Reliable vehicle needed: Estimated around $50,000
Gordon has shown unimaginable strength over the past 14 years. Now he needs our strength and support in return. Your donation will help cover life-extending treatments, critical transportation, and basic living expenses during this most difficult chapter.
Thank you for standing with Gordon. Every contribution, large or small, makes a life-saving difference!
