These past few days have been an emotional rollercoaster for Greg and I. I took Greg to the ER on Tuesday evening where he was admitted to the hospital for extreme numbness from his torso down to his legs. After multiple tests and scans, we heard something that no one ever wants to hear in their lifetime. Greg currently has a large tumor on his spine that is causing his body to go numb. The Drs said if we would have waited any longer he could have been at risk of permanent damage or even being paralyzed. From what they can see, the tumor looks to be benign but they won't know for sure until they get in there.
We were admitted to Orlando Health in Sebastian FL where we were greeted and taken care of by the most amazing medical staff I have ever encountered. They made sure Greg and myself were comfortable and well taken care of. During the scariest time of our life they brought us nothing but comfort and positivity.
After Greg was seen by a neurologist, she made the decision that the tumor needs to be taken out immediately to prevent any permanent damage.
At 12am this morning Greg was transported by ambulance to Orlando Regional Medical Center where they have their own neurology floor and specialize in the treatment and surgery that Greg needs. I was able to meet Greg at the hospital where I will be by his side every step of the way. (Thanks Mom and Dad for taking care of the kids so I can be with Greg)
At this moment Greg is well and is in high spirits. We are just asking that everyone keep him in your thoughts and prayers. This is extremely scary for him, myself, and our family. It's just one of those things that you would never think would happen to you.
Greg has a long road ahead of him, but I know that God has his hand over him and the whole medical staff that will be performing his surgery. There is no ETA as of now when the surgery will be (either today or tomorrow), but I will do my best to keep everyone updated.
