On September 17th
Deja’s life changed dramatically in 2022 when she was diagnosed with Stage1 Grade2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. It was a rough few months after losing her Father in June but nothing could have shocked her more than hearing those words only a month after celebrating her 45th birthday.

Things haven’t been easy since but Deja is powering through, with a smile on her face and love in her heart. She has undergone 6 rounds of chemo with 2 left to go. She has her surgery set for her bi-lateral mastectomy, and reconstructive surgery. The challenging stuff has been the side effects, the plans put on hold missing out with her family and being unable to work during this difficult time.

That said, it hasn’t all been bad. She has a strong support system, has reconnected with important people and has really started to learn who she is and what she wants in this life. To her, it’s about helping people feel good about themselves, no matter their circumstances, and that’s what this fundraiser is ultimately about. Helping her on that journey back to health and purpose while she gains the strength to work to pay for her mounting expenses. It’s also for those who have asked how they can support.
