Hi, my name is Maddi, im 20 and i have ARFID (avoidant restrictive food intake disorder) an eating disorder that in my case, makes me basically terrified to eat. This leads to severe health problems and crisis, and I currently do not have medical insurance. This has been difficult because I need appointments with my care team to insure my health, and I haven’t seen them in 5 months. 

Last year, after a lifelong battle with ARFID, that had only gotten worse up until that point- I ended up hospitalized with an NG tube, and I had that for 2 and a half months before it’s removal. I ate, but not well, and in February of this year, I was hospitalized again and had another NG Tube.

Following that, I had a month and a half stay at a residential eating disorder facility known as TEP, they were a great place, but in my fair opinion I didn’t get a fair first chance at treatment, which lead to a medical episode, and my discharge. 

After that, I remained eating, sometimes pretty well, sometimes not. I really had some hope, but with all my health conditions- they’re exacerbated with stress, and due to my recent homelessness which caused extreme distress, im sad to admit that i’m not in a good place with eating again. 

Fast forward to now, I have no medical insurance, and i’m getting back on my feet, but I need help getting things to help me get nutrition, and keep me healthy until i’m able to see my providers again
