Isaac’s dad died last month, and I’m humbly asking for financial help.
Even though Isaac’s dad voluntarily gave up custody and forfeited most visitation over the last five years, he did financially support me staying home with Isaac to handle his multiple therapies, hospital stays, and homeschooling. I have worked a number of “side gigs” and part time jobs over the last eleven years to cover most of the “extras” like groceries, gas, or the occasional $7.41 pizza night.
I also deal with a number of health issues brought on in part by the years of stress and abuse I endured. With these, I have regular therapies and doctor appointments for me, as well as limited regular availability for a “traditional” job, and somewhat limited stamina. Throw in some wacky anaphylactic allergies, and I am an HR and risk management nightmare. The body keeps the score.
I picked up a part-time, flexible job that I LOVE with the likelihood of an expanded role in the new fiscal year, and I am opening up more tutoring slots starting next week. I have tried to keep expenses to austerity levels only, and as such haven’t even replaced the two+ year old tennis shoes I’ve worn out and needed to replace for the last year. We are receiving SNAP benefits, and have been eligible for Medicaid for years. And it’s Isaac’s senior year. He has made decisions to forgo a number of high school “experiences” in part because of his autism and anxiety, and partly because he doesn’t want to ask me for the money to attend.
I’m wading through Social Security and the life insurance, trying to get those sorted out, but they don’t even begin to cover the credit card bills that are primarily recapitalized interest from when Chris was not paying child support at all. I am grateful for any little bit which helps.
