  • Almost There! 😊

Hey family! I just thought I’d give a little update on myself (didn’t know I could on here).

First and foremost thank you all for your continued prayers and donations! It has helped tremendously, especially with me not working at the moment. I’ve been able to cover medications, gas and food when traveling and my recent surgery where I had to pay a portion OOP.

For those who think getting listed for transplant is easy, it is a process! My process has been somewhat smooth as far as qualifications, the last thing I had to complete was a surgery to remove fluid from my right lung and basically “patch” my lung to avoid any fluid from entering.

It will blow your mind how strong your body can be, especially mine. The amount of fluid I had removed was insane. I had a Thoracentesis (fluid drained from lung) in July, 1800mL was removed (adding a pic)😱.
Although I had this procedure, I still had a tremendous amount of fluid on my right lung, so next steps were to see a Thoracic surgeon. He advised that I needed to have a VATs Pluerodesis procedure. This surgery does required being put the sleep and a 2 day hospital stay, and a chest/lung tube during the stay.

Surgery was successful on September 11th morning. I’m recovering well and can’t wait to be fully healed. Despite the soreness, I feel great and can’t wait to be funny healed. 😇
I have a great surgeon, doctors and medical staff so this process has been pretty smooth for me.

Now that this is complete I can officially be listed on the transplant list at Piedmont in ATL. 🥳🥳👏🏾 I’m super excited and blessed.
I AM still seeking a living donor but this is great as well if I’m able to receive from a deceased. A living donor is a quicker/guaranteed process and increases longevity of the kidney and myself😊.

I’m adding a picture so you guys the see the fluid I had removed back in July. This is 1,800 mL, during surgery yesterday they removed 5,000 mL😵‍💫.
I have no clue how I was still functioning with all of that on my lung.. but God is so good and I have no complaints!
I had to stop working very recently just due to being having so many appointments and it was also needed mentally.
Also once I do receive a kidney, I will have to stay within 30mins of the hospital for the first month so I can have blood work twice a week.

Hopefully I will get the call for a kidney not too long after I’m listed and we can get the real journey started because this is just the process!💪🏾

Again; thank you for the prayers; keep them coming! I love ya’ll🫶🏾🫶🏾♥️ ~Tranai

About this fundraiser

I’m excited to share my journey finally!  I need a whole kidney, do you believe it?! LOL

I can truly say life has been a journey over the past fourteen months, and a huge eye opener.

October 28th, 2023 I went to bed like normal, I was short of breath when lying down, it gradually got worst as I tried to sleep, I felt like I could not breathe. I eventually called 911 to be taken to the ER. As I waited for EMS to arrive I started to feel worse. Once EMS arrived and got me in the ambulance, I completely passed out and was unconscious the entire ride to the hospital. The last thing I remember was the EMT holding my hand and praying with me.

I remember slowly regaining consciousness, I could hear the nurses and doctors all talking around me telling me to wake up. I eventually regained consciousness and was finally alert again. I woke up with a BiPap on my face and could barely talk. I remember just be happy I was awake even though I didn't remember anything and didn't know what the hell was going on.

My mom arrived shortly after I woke up, I was so happy to see her.

Once I was fully awake, the doctor came and spoke with me and let me know they were admitting me into ICU because my lungs were filled with fluid and my kidneys are not functioning and I needed to start dialysis very soon. I spent a little over a week in the hospital, 6 of those days in ICU. There was so much going on in those days, I was so mentally drained and confused after speaking with different doctors. After this long stay and I was discharged, I just needed time to think about everything that happened.

December 9th, 2023 I had the same health episode. I was short of breath and had to be transported by ambulance again, once again I was passed out the entire ride and woke up in the same predicament. Once I woke up, I spoke with the doctors again, same story, I needed dialysis ASAP. I agreed to to have a temporary cath in place so I could start dialysis and have the fluid removed from my lungs. I truly felt an immediate difference after my first treatment that morning. I spent 3 days admitted to the hospital receiving dialysis removing off of the fluid from my body, I felt so much better. I spent a short period of time on Hemo dialysis in center but luckily I was able to transition to PD dialysis and continue my treatment at home and it has been going great.

After multiple procedures, surgery, series of doctors appointment, I'll be starting my journey to receive a kidney transplant hopefully very soon! I begin my kidney transplant evaluations starting April 2025, which is days of testing to make sure I'm healthy enough to receive a kidney, once that is completed I will be listed on the transplant list. I'm super excited to get this next part of my journey started, it has been one hell of a journey but yet a great learning, eye opening and life changing experience that I wouldn't change.

I can't thank my close friends and family that have been here for me and supported me through this and continue to be there for me, check on me, call, text, etc. They have truly been my rock, especially my mama and daughter!

I wanted to finally share my story and also raise awareness. You never know what a person is going through and I'm a true living testimony of that because I don't look like what I've been through. One thing I know for sure, I've been covered and will continue to be covered in the blood of Jesus through this all!

All donations will go towards medical bills that insurance won't cover and traveling expenses during transplant evaluations. This is not a necessity but will definitely lighten the load and stress during this process for us, any and everything is appreciated. A simple prayer is also appreciated! Thank you all! : )
