About this fundraiser

Our momma, Dawn, she was diagnosed in December 2021, with stage 4 breast cancer, was in her lymph nodes, she had a breast removed, chemo, radiation, in 2022. In 2023 she was cleared for the cancer. In 2024 it came back in her bones, so she's been doing injections, and treatments. Well in 2025, she started having headaches and pressure.. regardless of Petscan, where everything seemed the same, she had markers rise but continued the same treatment well april 2025 finally a doctor out of the cancer field said hey let's do a mri, where abnormalities of fluid showed on brain and a lesion... so went to the hospital for a spinal tap where cancer cells are present in the spinal fluid.. this is called leptomeningeal disease basically a stage 5 cancer.. there is no cure, but she is doing the 10 treatments of radiation to try to throw it in remission. Well that being said she's been in hospital straight for a week so far ongoing.. because she started having seizures. Our dad has been by her side since day 1, so neither one is working... id like to help as much as I can to help financially.. if anyone is able to help, thank you, if not please pray. thank you.

Update:

We are finally on the way to Atlanta

Update on Mom:

After much discussion between her care teams, mom will most likely be moved to Atlanta to continue her treatment. While it wasn’t an easy decision, we’re trusting the advice of her doctors and specialists who believe this move will provide the best environment for her care moving forward.

Please continue to pray for her healing, for wisdom for her medical team, and for strength as we walk through this next chapter. We’re holding onto faith and believing for a miracle.

Update:

Mom had her second round of radiation today.
She did have a seizure during her appointment, but thankfully the team was right there with her. Yesterday was a better day with no seizures that we’re aware of — and we are so thankful for even the small improvements.

She was also able to eat a little applesauce, a cracker, and drink some water today. Every little step forward matters, and we’re holding on to that hope.

Please keep the prayers coming. We’re praying for strength, healing, and progress — one day at a time.

Update:

The kidney specialist came by and said it’s important that we start encouraging her to eat and drink when she’s awake. He also mentioned that after two radiation treatments, he expects we’ll start seeing some improvement. That gave us a little hope today. Please keep the prayers coming—every one of them means the world to us.

Update:

Dr. Dunbar said not to move Mom to Atlanta. She’s happy with the progress being made here and feels that radiation will address several of the issues Mom is facing. Moving her would mean starting over in some ways, which would be a setback at this point—especially just for an EEG.

Dr. Dunbar has been in contact with the team here and has full access to all of Mom’s charts and test results. Her advice is to stay the course for now. Once Mom is stable and radiation has begun, she’s open to doing a video call to discuss further options. But at this moment, the quickest way to reduce the swelling and help Mom get back on her feet is to move forward with radiation.

We appreciate all the continued prayers—please keep them coming.

Update: Mom update!

The pressure has caused some vision loss, but the radiologist is hopeful that will improve after treatment. They’re still planning to transfer her to Atlanta for a 24-hour EEG monitoring as soon as a machine is available.

This morning, she’s being fitted for her radiation mask, and she will begin radiation this afternoon. Mom made it very clear—she wants to do this.

We’re currently waiting for an MRI, but the good news is that they seem to have her seizures under control.

Mom is a fighter through and through. Please keep the prayers coming—we feel every single one.

Update: Update on Mom:

Mom just woke up and asked, “Am I still in the hospital?” I told her yes. Then she looked at Dad and asked if she was hooked up to an IV. He told her they accessed her port with Dr. Assikis’s approval, and she said, “No, they can’t do that!” — classic Mom! She also asked where her phone was, which gave us a little laugh. She’s been taking in water by sponge, and we’re taking all these little moments as signs of hope.

The doctor wants to transfer her to Atlanta for a 24-hour EEG monitoring, but all the machines were tied up today. They’ll try again tomorrow. Emory was an option, but that would mean starting over with new doctors — and we feel strongly about keeping her current team since they know her case so well.

This morning, she was sleepy but responsive. She looked at Dad and her best friend, Susan while they were talking and answering questions — a huge win. The kidney doctor came by and said her sodium levels were low, which could be a factor in the seizures. They’re working to get her levels back up today.

Please keep the prayers coming. We’re believing for healing, peace, and strength — and taking it moment by moment.

Update: Please keep the prayers coming. Mom had a rough night and is currently in the hospital. She’s stable this morning, but we’re praying hard that her seizures get under control so she can start radiation as planned. The goal is to move forward with treatment and fight this cancer head-on.

We are standing in faith, believing she can beat the odds. She’s in good spirits and continues to show strength and grace through every step.

Please lift her up today.

Update: Thank you all for your continued prayers!

Mom went for her PET scan today, and we just got the results. She hasn’t started her treatment for the brain yet — that begins next week — but today brought some good news.

There is no sign of cancer in her chest, lungs, liver, spleen, abdomen, or other major organs. The spots in her bones appear stable, and nothing new has shown up. That alone is a huge blessing and answer to prayer.

Her doctors are encouraged, and so are we. She’ll begin radiation next week for the small brain lesion, along with continuing her injections and oral medication.

Through it all, her spirit is strong and her faith is even stronger. We know God is in control and we’re believing in healing — one step at a time. Please keep the prayers coming.

Update:
We got more insight into Mom’s diagnosis. The cancer has reached the lining of her brain, but we are thankful that the tumor is very small—only 3mm. Her bloodwork looks perfect, and her doctors are acting quickly with a treatment plan that includes targeted medication, injections, and radiation.

She is ER/PR-positive and HER2-negative, which means there are still powerful treatment options available.

Most importantly, she is in good spirits and standing strong in her faith. She feels good, she’s positive, and she’s ready to fight.

We know this is serious—but we also know God is bigger. We are staying cautiously hopeful and taking it one step at a time. Please keep praying for healing, strength, and complete remission.

Update: We received confirmation that cancer cells were found in the spinal fluid. This is called leptomeningeal disease. It’s a serious diagnosis, but we are not giving up hope — and neither are the doctors. There are treatment options available, and her care team is already discussing the best path forward.

They weren’t able to run more tests on the sample because there weren’t enough cells, but that may actually be a sign that we caught this early. Regardless, we are moving forward with faith, fight, and focus.

We’re praying hard, believing even harder, and standing firm that God is our healer and this is not the end — not even close. Please keep the prayers coming — specifically that the cancer stops here and doesn’t spread any further.

Update: The test won’t be back for about a week to confirm or deny if there are cancer cells in her CSF fluid. But all of the doctors that met this morning about mom are leaning towards that it is cancer in her brain lining due to her cancer history. They’re going to be doing radiation on the tumor and changing her medication and putting her on steroids, and giving her medication for her headaches. The goal is for the new cancer medicine to kill the cancer cells. She will have to get MRI’s every two to three months to see what’s going on.

Update: Mom’s back in her room. They said her fluid looks excellent and how it’s supposed to look. They sent it to the lab to test it for cancer. Please keep praying!!

Update: It’s spinal tap day. Please continue to pray that the cancer has not spread to her CSF fluid. The doctor came in this morning and was very positive and optimistic—if it is cancer, she believes it’s been caught early and there are many treatment options available. They’re also considering a bone biopsy to help determine which treatment the cancer will respond to best.

Mom really likes her doctor—she means business, and we feel like she’s in great hands!

We’re placing all of our faith and trust in God. He is in control, and He is our ultimate healer. He knows we need our mama. Please keep the prayers coming.

“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,” declares the Lord. — Jeremiah 30:17

Update: The MRI results are still the same as the MRI from Tuesday, which shows a 3mm lesion on her brain and contrast in her CSF fluid. Tomorrow she will have her spinal tap to test it for cancer. PRAY THAT THE CSF FLUID IS CLEAR AND THERE IS NO CANCER.

Update: Mom just went back for her MRI.

Update: Mom met her Neurologist and the surgeon this morning. She really likes them. The neurologist said she has been praying for her since she has learned about her.

Update: Asking for extra prayers for my mom. She decided to go to the hospital and they’re going to keep her and begin testing. Please pray for there not to be any cancer in her CSF fluid.

Update: the spinal tap appointment has beenn moved up to Monday at 2:30. Thank you Jesus!

We are so grateful for every message, prayer, and kind word you’ve sent our way. Please continue to lift my mom up in prayer. Her spinal tap is scheduled for next Thursday — and while that feels far away, we’re holding onto faith.

This test is key. We’re specifically asking for prayers that the cancer is NOT in her spinal fluid. That one result will make the road ahead so much easier and clearer.

There is power in prayer, and we are asking everyone to cover her in prayer over the next several days. Cancer is of the devil — but God is our ultimate healer, and we’re trusting Him to do what only He can.
