About this fundraiser

After the discovery of my wife's rare brain disease, life has been very challenging. Here's a short summary of her last year of our lives. Mindy was misdiagnosed, mistreated and wrongly medicated to to the incompetence of Slidell's local hospital, causing her to lose 80% of her motor skills. Bound to a wheelchair, she fought and conquered the disability and learned to walk again only to continue having neurological issues for months before we got a second opinion pushing towards the need for a VP shunt be surgically installed in the brain to relieve intecranial pressures. This procedure was done with the outcome showing unsuccessful due to the performing surgeon. After having a second surgery to have the shunt repositioned in the neck and abdomen. Mindy had never fully recovered from the first surgery, only to have to go through it again. She has been so strong and positive throughout all of these set backs. And is the strongest women I know. And I as her husband will continue to do anything and everything possible to get her the care that she needs,so that she can live a normal life again, spend time with family, hold our grandkids and just be able to do the simple things that you and I can sometimes take for granted. All proceeds will go to living and travel expenses directly related to the care, travel and living arrangements which have and will continue to affect us financially for the  duration of Mindy's  care and recovery. Those who know us know that even though I do my best to work every day, life with these kinds of difficulties can be very expensive considering the best care for her is not close to home. We were previously living on our cabin cruiser we acquired after losing our home to fire but will no longer be accessible to Mindy after having the surgery and is not conducive to her recovery. We sincerely appreciate any help in donations and are not very comfortable with being given things as we have been totally self sufficient in our lives for the past few years but continuing with my line of work has been a major obstacle and very challenging considering my wife has needed 24 hour care for months up until, and her recovery thereafter the surgery. We thank you and God bless everyone!
