On July 13, 2025 my brother Greg was an innocent bystander who became a victim of a mass shooting of many individuals at a night club in Houston Texas. There were various victims at the time with end results; leaving 2 deceased; and by God Grace he was spared with a bullet enteriing into the top of his head and lodging behind his eyes…. Because of this he is now permanently blind in his left eye with the bullet still in place. From the Date of July 13, 2025 it has been a long road to recovery for him with little to no medical care benefits for many appointments that should have been to follow in the nature of his care. He was put out of the hospital within three days after for lack of insurance coverage with little to no instructions of caring for his wellbeing. II as his sister; try my best to help immediately setting up aftercare; such as: Him following up with Neurologist; ophthalmologist; Dental; Orthodontic  and all suggested care routines that was on his discharged chart: unfortunately  not having proper healthcare all his specialist appointments that were being made was not accepted to cover his cost of care. He had Ambetter healthcare; but still not the right plan to cover the any cost of CT scans; or anything that is in process to monitor the bullet that is still lodged in his skull behind the eye socket frame. We tried to apply for victims of crime; which approved him for funds; and due to resources available was only able to aide him a $30.00 dollar check. He has tried everything; even for applying for disability and still nothing has cleared in his favor: but relying on the strength of God. He can not fully fulfill the job performance he once was committed to such as security; and club house promoter and markerting throughout the city of Houston that he loves; and call home for many years; as a native from the state of Louisiana. Leaving Louisiana was the change he needed in a time many years ago before Hurricane Katrina; to develop into the man that he established himself into giving him a new start. Right; now has been some of the toughest times in his life trying to stay afloat of his health; Bills and lack of Transportation to move around. Being a gunshot victim with a wound to the head;; fracture skull fragments and an active bullet still lodged behind his eye with no idea the severity of damage that lyes within due to lack of healthcare; funds nor resources….. everything from every bill due to keeping a roof over his head; an active phone line; gas; water and food on the table has been a constant struggle in the game of wait and see. Though he is a man of faith; and much talent he could really use a hand of care in this moment in his road to recovery. The world itself right now is very challenging and still trying to navigate with the sight of one eye; and staying as positive in mental state as possible without succumbing anymore to the violent crime he has already faced and still giving God The Glory for giving him another chance at life. I am asking for any donations that anyone can help with will be a blessing in his road to recovery and healing.  Everyday is a blessing and as a family member; and a sister that has already lost two brothers and our mother: I am so grateful to God for sparing my brother Mr. Greg Polk  to still be here with us.
