Our family is coming together during one of the most difficult times in our lives to ask for help honoring our mom, Shirley Rine.

Our mom has been diagnosed with terminal end-stage emphysema and COPD. She has been on hospice care since August of 2025 and has experienced a steady decline. As of March, her condition has taken a turn for the worse, and we are facing the heartbreaking reality that she may not be with us much longer.

Unfortunately, our mom does not have a living will or any savings set aside for her final expenses or outstanding bills. She is considered indigent and does not have the means to cover the costs associated with end-of-life care, burial, or a memorial service.

As her children, we want nothing more than to give her a respectful and meaningful farewell—one that reflects the love she gave throughout her life. However, like many families, we each have children and financial responsibilities of our own, and we do not have the means to manage these expenses on our own.

We are asking for support so that we can prepare ahead of time and ensure everything is in place. Our goal is to be able to focus on spending meaningful time with our mom in her final days, rather than facing the added stress of trying to arrange and afford her final expenses during such an emotional time.
