My vehicle was stolen in late July 2024. The way that law enforcement and the impound has conducted themselves has been heinous. My children and I will directly benefit from your support by being able to afford legal representation that will return my stolen vehicle into my possession. I will be able to resume working and providing for them. Our home will feel less like a prison when we finally have the option of traveling freely again. 

The lawyer who has agreed to take my case requires a $2,500 deposit to begin working immediately. He quoted me $5000 (this figure includes the $2,500 deposit) for the entirety of my case. However, there may be situations that causes that figure to rise. Additionally, the impound and police have refused to grant me photos or acces to assess the potential damage to my vehicle. However, my vehicle does have comprehensive insurance, but there is a $1000 deductible. There is also the possibility of the Chief of Police and/or impound refusing to waive/adjust my storage fees which are currently at $700. Anything left over would be to ensure that my vehicle is mechanically sound. 

This support would not only save my life, but the lives of my daughters. In May 2024 I was finally able to rescue them from their father's home. He had kidnapped them in 2021, relocating over 600 miles away. He almost immediately began physically abusing and neglecting them, while abusing substances around them. Both of my children attempted suicide in his care. In their minds, returning to his home is a death sentence. I will do anything in my power to prevent that.

My employment was dependent on my vehicle. Without it, I won't be able to provide for them. I can't allow that to happen.

I, along with my children, would be eternally grateful for each and every bit of help we possibly receive. It's incredibly difficult for me to request assistance like this, but I  have no other options. I know most people are struggling to get by as is, and I feel terribly selfish for asking. However, the stakes are too high in this situation.
