For 3 years now, my life has been dictated by dialysis machines (because i am operating on 2% kidney function), rigid schedules, and constant exhaustion. I have had to go from home dialysis or Peritoneal dialysis (PD) to Hemodialysis which, by the way kills me, and back to PD all the while fighting off infections that kept me inactive on my transplant lists in both Colorado and Nebraska. I missed getting a kidney because of an infection a couple of months ago. I’ve missed work because my kidneys just couldn't keep up. I was put on disability from my job and have not had a paycheck in months.  But now, I’ve been blessed with a miracle—a potential donor match! 

While the surgery itself is covered, the road to recovery requires us to travel to University of Nebraska Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska and relocate for at least 6 weeks for essential post-op care. Between flights, a nearby apartment, and living expenses, the costs are overwhelming.
