My name is Lisa Brooks and my daughter Malicka, 34, is special needs. Malicka has multiple special needs/diagnoses including Epilepsy, Cognitive Impairment, Aphasia, Cerebral Palsy.

I am asking for assistance in purchasing a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for appointments, reenrolling Malicka in a day program (since she lives at home with me, I am required to provide transportation there and back), and just general transportation needs. Malicka has a waiver with the State of Michigan that will allow a wheelchair lift to be added to a vehicle at no extra cost to me, but the vehicle needs to be purchased first.

Malicka's activities are limited due to her wheelchair being under repair with Binson’s Home Healthcare Services (we are waiting for the parts), as well as the size of my current vehicle. I have a Chevy Trax currently, and it is too small for her wheelchair, let alone any other equipment. I have tried every door I know. The reason I started this Go Fund Me is important to me and to getting outside for Malicka!

I have submitted multiple applications through the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, and while their website says they will guarantee a Michigan Assistive Technology Loan through Michigan State University Credit Union, I have been denied three times.
