About this fundraiser

As a mother, I' like to say thanks for taking some of your valuable time to read this message. This fundraiser would benefit my child Niko. He is a nonverbal 3yr old Autistic adventurous and cuddle buddy. As of recently, has also been diagnosed as potentially  having absent seizures. He has no fear and I'm not sure if he's even aware of his surroundings when it comes to things that could be dangerous. He is currently enrolled in a Early Childhood PreK center through CPS and does ABA therapy 5 days a week. We are trying our best with what we have and what we can afford to meet his full potential. We'd love for him to also have Speech, Feeding and Occupational Therapy, swimming lessons/safety awareness classes, but it's not in our reach. His antiseizure emergency kit medication is a close to $300, and sadly not affordable. We're a family of 6, 1 income, 1 child about to start college. It's just impossible. Our average cost per a month's ABA therapy is about $600. Not sure what adding on these other very much needed therapies would amount to.. I can only imagine and that breaks my heart.. makes me feel like we're failing him. These therapies have been on hold since August of 2023. These have been needed months ago and the need  still continues. We'd also like to make things at home safer. We'd like to install a strong outdoor gate at the top of stairs and a very strong and sturdy fence to provide a contained outdoor environment for him as he loves outdoors, but always elopes and crosses the street alone without any danger awareness. Having access to these very important needs would mean so much to us. It would definitely make life a little brighter and remind our family that it does get better and it'll be ok. That Niko is pushing to meeting his full potential, and has been given an equal opportunity just like anybody else. I would forever be thankful for the sacrifices any donor makes to send a little hope our way. If you read this far, I thank you for reading to the end. Life has so many unexpected turns. Autism is a condition that really humbles the most humble person and a great learning experience, no words are needed, just love and patience and a place to vent where you're understood. We ordered shoes, we just didn't know those shoes would be the ones to show us this side of life that is not to spoken about. If you have a neurodivergent or special needs child, I send you a big hug and hope that the sun never stops shining for you.
