Help Me Fight My Way Back — A Medical Fundraiser
In October 2025, my life changed in a way I never could have imagined. I found a lump in my pelvic area. I went to the emergency room, scared and confused, hoping it was something minor. Instead, I was told that I had a 3-inch tumor, along with another tumor measuring several centimeters.
I immediately did what I thought was the responsible thing to do. I applied for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (often called “Obamacare,” which is different from AHCCCS), and I made an appointment with a gynecologist. After further evaluation, my gynecologist and I came to the conclusion that I would need a hysterectomy. I thought that once we knew what needed to be done, I could finally get the treatment I needed. I was wrong.
For the next five months, I fought not only my worsening health, but also a maze of insurance problems. I changed insurance twice because I was told my surgery wasn’t covered. I spent countless hours trying to figure out how I was going to get the medical care I desperately needed.
Then I found out the devastating truth: The surgery had been covered by both insurance plans all along.
The doctor’s office admitted that they had made a mistake. Their exact words to me were:
“We dropped the ball on you.”
My symptoms became unbearable. The pain, pressure, and physical toll were taking over my life. So I took control over my own health. I went to Tucson Medical Center, where I ultimately had to remain hospitalized for 10 days.
On September 21, 2026, I underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy. My amazing surgeon was able to successfully remove my 7, 6 and 3 inch tumors, along with my uterus and cervix
These weren’t just numbers on a medical report. These tumors had invaded my life. They affected my body, my ability to function, my ability to work, and my future. For months, I lived with the physical and emotional pain of knowing something was seriously wrong while fighting to get the treatment I needed.
And now I am facing another devastating problem. AHCCCS has denied me health insurance because I reportedly made “too much” money.
The irony is heartbreaking. I am currently unable to work because I am recovering from major surgery, recovery is expected to be 6-8 weeks. Plus, I am being left with medical expenses that are not being paid for
My current medical bills are approximately $86,000, and that amount does not include my ongoing appointments and follow-up care with my gynecologist.
I never imagined I would be the person asking for help like this. I have always wanted to be able to take care of myself. I don’t want to ask anyone for money. But right now, I have reached a point where I have to put my pride aside and admit that I cannot do this alone.
Every dollar donated will help me pay for the medical care that saved my life and help me get through this recovery without being completely buried by debt.
If you can’t donate, I completely understand. Sharing this fundraiser, sending it to someone who may be able to help, or simply keeping me in your thoughts means something to me too.
I have spent the last year fighting my own body, fighting for answers, fighting insurance companies, fighting through unbearable symptoms, and ultimately fighting my way into an operating room.
Now I’m fighting to rebuild my life.
I have lost organs.
I have lost time.
I have lost the ability to work while I recover.
And I am now facing tens of thousands of dollars in medical debt.
But I am still here.
I am healing.
I am fighting.
And I am determined to come out of this stronger than I was before.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has supported me, checked on me, prayed for me, sat beside me at the hospital, helped me through the hardest days, or simply reminded me that I wasn’t alone!
❤️ Thank you for helping me fight my way back
