Supporting Our Brave Girl Through Brain Surgery & Recovery

Hello everyone,

We are reaching out to our community during a time of immense challenge, but also a time of profound hope, for our family. Our beautiful 16-year-old daughter is scheduled to undergo brain surgery.

For those who may not know our daily reality, our daughter has been fighting epilepsy since she was 5 years old. She is, without a doubt, the strongest and bravest person I know. However, the last three years have been incredibly intense and debilitating. Her seizures became entirely unmanageable by medication, turning daily life into a constant uphill battle.

The conditions her brain puts her through have made life incredibly difficult. She went from thriving in college prep classes to barely being able to pass a few basic courses while battling constant, grueling migraines and headaches. She frequently needs help with her basic daily needs and can rarely leave the house without experiencing seizures. Watching her endure cycle after cycle of trying new medications—only for them to make her desperately sick before her body adjusts and the seizures return—has been heartbreaking.

To find the specialized care she needs, we have been traveling to see a specialist (an epileptologist) who is located two hours away from our home. For the last 8 months alone, we have been making this 4-hour round trip commute constantly for intensive testing, appointments, and follow-ups. Managing these long trips with her frequent seizures has been incredibly draining, both emotionally and financially, long before reaching the surgery date.

This upcoming surgery is the massive milestone we have been praying for to finally give her her life back. Her hospital stay alone will be a minimum of two and a half weeks, and truth be told, we have no clue what her recovery will look like once we get her home. Brain surgery recovery is entirely unpredictable, and she will need intensive care every step of the way.

To ensure she has the around-the-clock care, comfort, and safety she needs, I will be taking a necessary 3-month leave of absence from work to stay by her side both pre- and post-surgery. Because her daily needs are already complex and the recovery road is unknown, having a parent dedicated entirely to her for these three months is absolutely essential for her healing.

While our medical insurance will cover her hospital stay, it does not cover the everyday cost of keeping our household running. Being away from work means a total loss of my regular income during this critical time.

We are setting up this fund to create a financial safety net for our family so we can focus 100% of our energy on our daughter's recovery and rehabilitation without the looming fear of missing rent, falling behind on utilities, or struggling to pay for basic groceries and hospital travel costs.

How Your Donations Help

Our Financial Goal: $4,000

This goal represents exactly three months of our baseline household income. Reaching this target will completely cover our rent, utilities, basic groceries, and medical travel costs for the entire 90-day period I am away from work. It takes the financial pressure off our shoulders so our only job is helping our daughter heal.

Specifically, your support will cover:

Housing & Utilities: Keeping our rent and monthly bills paid so our daughter has a safe, stable home to return to.

Daily Living Expenses: Groceries, household essentials, and immediate needs for her comfort during an unpredictable recovery.

Medical Travel Support: Fuel, tolls, and parking for the ongoing 4-hour round-trip commutes to her specialist, alongside meals on the go during her multi-week hospital stay.

If you are unable to donate financially, sharing this link with your own network, keeping our daughter in your thoughts, or sending words of encouragement means more to us than words can say.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for wrapping your arms around our family and helping us support our brave girl as she takes this huge step toward healing.
