Our Immediate Goal: $ 690 Upfront Surgery Co-Pay
We are reaching out today for your support as I, Aralis Rivera, face a continuous, critical medical journey. Our immediate, most urgent financial goal is to raise $ 690 to cover the mandatory upfront 30% co-pay required by the surgery center for a crucial elbow procedure scheduled for November 19, 2025.
However, the need extends far beyond that:
β’ $ 50 Physical Therapy Co-Pays: Funds are needed to cover the essential $ 50 co-pay for each physical therapy visit, which begins October 21, 2025, and is vital for the surgery's success.
β’ Impending Payment Plan: The final costs for the actual surgery and anesthesia are still unknown. Funds raised beyond the $ 690 will be immediately used to lower the amount we owe on the substantial payment plan arrangement we will be required to make for these massive, incoming bills.
The Journey: From Life-Changing Accident to Ongoing Care
Our lives were changed forever on August 20, 2022, when I suffered severe, life-threatening injuries in a car accident in Jacksonville, FL.
This was not a quick recovery; it was the start of a constant, painful battle that continues today.
Initial Critical Injuries & Treatment:
β’ 2 1/2 months spent in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
β’ Required Tracheal Intubation to assist breathing.
β’ Multiple major surgeries:
β’ Small intestines reconstructed.
β’ Fractured elbow surgery.
β’ Fractured hip surgery.
β’ Fractured right foot (placed in a cast).
β’ Treated for significant back and neck injuries.
The Ongoing Medical Timeline: A Difficult Path
The following timeline illustrates the continuous medical crises and setbacks I have faced since the accident:
β’ Jan 2023: Moved to Orlando, FL to continue recovery.
β’ Mar β July 2023: Began new rounds of intensive physical therapy for hip and arm.
β’ Jul 13, 2023: Had surgery for Excision of right heel squamous cell carcinoma cancer.
β’ Sep 3-18, 2023: Emergency visit confirmed a persistent hip fracture, followed by a necessary hernia surgery (Sept 12-18).
β’ Oct 18, 2023: Underwent surgery for Heterotopic Ossification (excess bone growth) in the right elbow joint.
β’ Dec 6, 2023: Received a life-changing CONVERSION RIGHT TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT surgery.
β’ Jan β Mar 2024: Resumed hip physical therapy.
β’ Jan β Apr 2024: The battle with cancer continued. A follow-up visit revealed cancer persisted on the heel. I underwent daily radiation treatments Monday-Friday from March 6 to April 26, 2024.
β’ Mid-Radiation Crisis: I lost health insurance coverage in the middle of radiation treatments. Everything became strictly out-of-pocket until new insurance could be purchased.
β’ May 2025: Secured new health insurance, but it requires a 30% co-pay for all visits and procedures.
The Current Hurdle: November 19, 2025 Surgery
Despite countless procedures, the right elbow is still limited to only 90 degrees of mobility.
β’ Date: November 19, 2025
β’ Procedure: RIGHT ELBOW CONTRACTURE RELEASE, HETEROTOPIC BONE EXCISION AND CORTICOSTEROID INJECTION.
β’ Rehabilitation: Physical therapy starts immediately on October 21, 2025, with a $ 50 co-pay required for every single visit.Β
