Hello everyone. I never imagined I'd be in a position to need to ask for help, but even with the coverage of health insurance and assistance from my family, my medical bills from my treatment are becoming overwhelming and affecting not only me and my mental health but on my family as well.
My name is Valerie Solis. I am a 53yo female that has been dealing with a long time injury to my right knee. In 2005, I was in a major car accident that led to me needing surgery in my right knee. Surgery was completed within 3 months of the accident but it did very little to help. I was able to walk without any assistance but I was always in pain. I went to several Orthopedic surgeons, had several different injections, 3 worked but just for a short period of time and not like they should have. Finally, I received the news in 2012, a right total knee replacement. However, since I was able to walk without any assistance, they would not do the surgery because of my age and I would more than likely have to have another replacement done within 10-15 years. “Come back when you can't stand the pain or can't walk anymore”. Well that time has arrived. My knee was so misaligned, contained no cartilage, multiple bone spurs, arthritis, calcium deposits and I was in constant pain. My doctor was shocked that I was able to still walk (short distances only).

I could not wait any longer and have recently underwent a total right knee replacement on August 22, 2025. I am currently at 3 weeks post surgery and I can already tell the difference. I am currently doing in home physical therapy and I have began walking, going a bit further everyday. Soon, I will be able to attend family functions, performances of my children and grand children and just being able to go to the mall without having my knee stop me like it did so many times before. I am even looking forward to when I am able to walk up a flight of stairs.
I am reaching out asking for your support. All donations received will be used toward my surgery expenses which includes: deductibles, co-payments, surgery/hospital bills, medical equipment, prescription costs and to my future medical expenses. I still have many physical therapy sessions and several surgeon follow ups to make sure my new knee is working properly like a knee should. Until then, I am not been able to work until released from my surgeon. I have no income coming in right now yet the bills keep coming in and stacking up. Again, I never thought I would ever be in a situation where I would have to ask for help. On behalf of myself and my family, we thank you all in advance for your support. No matter how small the donation, it will help cover these medical expenses and closer to the goal.
