Anyone who knows Richard knows he’s the last person to ever ask for help—but right now, he truly needs it.
Richard was recently diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a serious condition where his heart is functioning at less than 35%. He now has to wear an external defibrillator 24/7—something only prescribed when there’s a high risk of sudden cardiac arrest. This life-altering diagnosis came out of nowhere—he originally went to the doctor for what he thought was just a cold that wouldn’t go away.
Unfortunately, this is only part of what Richard is facing. He also struggles with multiple chronic health issues: diabetes, neuropathy in both legs, kidney problems, a growth on his head, and serious gastrointestinal complications that have already required surgery. He urgently needs to see a team of specialists, including a cardiologist, endocrinologist, nephrologist, dermatologist, and gastroenterologist—each visit adding up in costly co-pays, tests, and prescriptions.
To make things even harder, Richard has been unable to work since July 17th, and his employer does not offer short- or long-term disability. While he has applied for state assistance, those processes take time—and the bills don’t stop.
As if the medical burden weren’t enough, Richard’s mother is now in hospice care up north. He’s desperate to be there with her, but at this moment, even basic living expenses like rent and medication are out of reach.
We’re asking for your help—any amount makes a difference. Your support will go directly toward:
• Rent and utilities
• Medical co-pays and prescriptions
• Transportation to and from appointments
• Daily essentials while he’s unable to work
Richard is facing more than any one person should, and right now, he needs his community to help carry the weight.
Thank you for reading, for sharing, and for showing up for someone who has always tried to show up for others.
Thank you so much,
Brenda
