Some of you may not know that Sandy has gone through back to back medical issues since June of 2023. It all started with right sciatica pain which led to a Total hip replacement on her right side. Sandy tried to go back to work early, but was experiencing constant sciatica pain on her right side. Her Doctor ordered a MRI in June and saw L5 & S2 were bulging … but due to continued low blood levels her surgery was pushed back to August. She has been in and out of the hospital every other week for blood transfusions that come to find out were related to GI bleeds. They were able to complete the back surgery in hopes to alleviate her pain from the bulging disc and at the same time were able to administer blood. During that procedure they discovered that the sciatica nerve was twisted, and they were able to correct it. While trying to recover from previous mentioned procedures, Sandy blacked out, fell, and hit her foot and broke it due to her decreased blood levels. Due to the severity of the break she had to have surgery where 2 pins were placed in her foot. She continued to have GI bleeds and doctors continued searching for answers. They finally found where the bleed was which was located in her spleen. Sandy attempted to continue to work a few hours here and there but could not continue to do that due to increased hospital admissions. Moving forward to December doctors completed a splenectomy, in which drain tubes were placed. After going home, her drain tubes became infected (a total of 3 drains) Since her splenectomy, she has been in and out of the hospital due to repeated internal infections. Upon further examination they discovered a necrotic area located on her pancreas that was from a past surgery complication that occurred in 2018. They went in and scraped the area. She continues to have the drains bc of the infection and she is on several strong Antibiotics in hopes to eliminate the infections. She’s currently in the hospital AGAIN (admitted on Feb 19th) and she is unable to work. We were under the impression that she may be discharged on Friday March 1st, however she received news today that both her Small and Large Intestines are extremely swollen. The Infectious Disease Doctor is unable to provide a answer or reason as to why, so she will remain in the hospital.
As you can tell, Sandy has really been through a lot lately. She became a nurse in 2006, she truly enjoys helping others and she is very dedicated and passionate about her career. Due to all of the Medical issues and procedures mentioned above she is unable to work therefore we are asking for donations to help her. All donations will go directly toward her monthly bills (mortgage, vehicle, utilities, etc). Please lift Sandy up in your prayers and pray that Doctors are able to find answers. Sandy would love nothing more than to be discharged and return to work, but she needs to focus on healing and your donation can help and allow her to do that.
We love you Sandy ❤️ - Kim & Kayla
