About this fundraiser

Matt and Meg are one of those couples who make the world a better place by focusing on their family and community. Matt is my both my friend and devoted coworker- an outdoor educator and curriculum developer for our local school system. Meg is a compassionate warrior for the mental health of children and adolescents in her role with local health services. They have three wonderful and involved children in the community and sports, and over the years I have watched them make so many sacrifices to support every dream their kids have ever had from football to swimming to travel. Their familial bonds are deep  and they are a huge part of their communities.

For the past several months I have seen them dig deep and work hard to continue to uphold their dreams and communities as they have faced the unimaginable- stage four breast cancer. Meg was diagnosed a few months ago and even just the process of diagnosis was uncertain, challenging, and terrifying from  to time. Still, together, they continued to persevere and make as much as possible work for each other, their family and their community. Many would never know the great challenge they are facing in beating cancer because they just keep going, but I think it’s our turn to return all the love and compassion they have given to our communities. It’s something they would never ask for, but it’s something they deserve and something we can give as Meg continues substantial treatment as a Mom, wife, team Mom, and health professional (among many other roles).

Because Meg has metastatic disease, there are fewer treatment medical options available. With the approval of her oncologist she has explored adding on some complimentary therapies such as infrared sauna, cold plunge, acupuncture, yoga, and recommended supplements. These treatments are not covered by insurance but have been shown to improve outcomes for women with stage 4 cancer and enhance quality of life.

Please consider giving to this amazing family and showing up to help cover the costs of some of the complimentary treatments and take some of their worries and fears away in terms of costs as they face the long and difficult road ahead. I have no doubt that they will succeed and I have no doubt we can support them in making that road a little less challenging. Thank you!
