I am a dedicated hourly employee at a public school in Michigan, and I am reaching out for help during a challenging time. As the summer break begins, my family of five and I are facing financial difficulties. I do not receive pay during the 10-week summer break, and my hourly wage during the school year does not leave much room for savings.

Unfortunately, I have been denied unemployment benefits because I have a reasonable assurance of returning to work in the fall. Additionally, the Michigan retirement plan does not allow me to withdraw funds for hardship expenses since I am technically still employed.

Despite my best efforts, I have been unable to secure a part-time summer job. This leaves us struggling to cover essential expenses such as rent and food.

I truly love my job and am committed to continuing my work in education, but this summer break has put my family in a precarious situation. I am humbly appealing to the kindness and generosity of others to help us get through these tough months.
