Rachel suffered a severe traumatic brain injury from an accident where she fell and hit her head while camping with family on September 16th. The impact of the fall caused multiple skull fractures, a brain bleed, and extensive swelling. Rachel underwent an emergency surgery called a craniectomy, which removed part of her skull to relieve the pressure from swelling. After spending almost a month in ICU and Med/Surg at Aurora, she was transferred to Shirley Ryan Ability lab inpatient Neuro rehab in Chicago and continues to make great strides forward. Rachel has a long road ahead, as she will continue to require extensive medical care, including rehab to regain strength and relearn skills. She will also need another surgery in the coming months to repair her skull.
Rachel is a loving wife to Dan and a devoted mother to two young girls Kendell and Miley. Rachel was only two semesters away from completing her RN degree before the accident occurred. As Rachel & Dan navigate into the unknown, we are reaching out for your support so they can focus on Rachel's recovery. All funds raised will go directly to Rachel to offset the medical costs and help supplement income while they are unable to work. If you prefer to donate directly, you may send it via Venmo.
