About this fundraiser

In November 2023, Ryan received the devastating diagnosis of Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM), a rare and progressive autoimmune muscle disease. This condition, characterized by muscle weakness and inflammation, affects individuals over 50, with a higher prevalence in men.

With IBM, abnormal protein clumps known as inclusion bodies form within muscle cells, leading to debilitating symptoms such as muscle weakness, difficulty walking, muscle atrophy, and sometimes difficulty swallowing.

Currently, there's no cure for IBM, and treatment focuses on symptom management and slowing disease progression. However, Ryan's doctors have recommended chemotherapy despite its limited efficacy, leaving him feeling unsupported and with few options beyond managing symptoms.

In light of this, Ryan and his loved ones have embarked on a holistic treatment journey to alleviate his symptoms and improve his quality of life. Their approach includes acupuncture, red light therapy, cryotherapy, hyperbaric chamber treatments, infrared sauna sessions, IV hydration, NAD therapy, ionic foot detoxing, yoga, aquatic exercise, yoga stretching, and compression therapy, administered daily and weekly.

Additionally, Ryan follows a regimen of supplements, adheres to a healthy diet with weekly juicing, and abstains from sugar and alcohol to reduce inflammation. Chinese herbs and additional supplements complement his holistic approach to managing IBM.

Ryan's journey underscores the need for further research and support for individuals battling rare diseases like IBM. Your contributions will help Ryan access the holistic treatments he needs and support ongoing efforts to find effective treatments and improve the quality of life for those living with IBM.
