This is my girl Sasha. We rescued her. She had what we thought was a phantom pregnancy which, it turned out not to be. We took her to an emergency vet, who did an x-ray (did one and called her back in for another) and came back to us saying she had 1, one live puppy stuck in the birthing canal. After several hours and 3 doses of oxytocin, there was just no progress made. These dogs need c sections because their heads are so big and their hips are so narrow. They offered us one for 5 thousand dollars. It was just before 6am and we declined and were going to call another vet and get it done for less. We've had some unfortunate events come our way and they have put us in quite a pinch.
We called and called and called vets and didn't speak to someone until it was too late and it became a “find somewhere to remove the deceased puppy” situation and when we did have success speaking to a vet that could and would, they couldn't until the next morning. So, she sat, miserable and fighting until 7am when I drove her up there. They did her surgery. Removing the deceased puppy was the one and only request. The surgeon not only spayed her, also said one of her horns was connected to her intestines (a birth defect of sorts) and she cut some of that away. She also said there were TWO puppies in her 🥺💔 and that Sasha woke up throwing up and would probably not be feeling well enough to eat until the next day. She Drank water but wouldn't eat and she was still throwing up. On day 3 after surgery, she stopped drinking water.
We sprang into action and got her goats milk, pumpkin and wet dog food with extra protein and nutrients and we have been feeding her and giving her water through a syringe, 3 and 4 times a day. She is still “throwing up” every single day, all day and even through the night she wakes up a couple times doing it (It's a watery foam and she's hacking it up, that's the best way I can describe it) This happens 30 to 50 times a day. I wish I was exaggerating that but I'm not, not one bit. She doesn't throw up the food, it's not from her stomach. But she isn't gaining weight and we are feeding her quite a bit.
I contacted the after care line for weeks after her surgery and they kept saying “it's not related”, she should see a vet, but "sasha woke up after surgery throwing up" and that is literally written in the surgeons notes. She's still doing this. I have videos of us feeding her and her throwing up this foam, that I've shown to 2 vets and they did for us what we could afford which was fluids, antibiotics, steroids and nausea medicine.
We are so strapped now and Sasha is still fighting. Right now she needs to go back to the vet. She needs X-rays and blood work and we can't afford it due to unforseen events that have taken place. When it rains it truly pours. I hate to ask for help but I don't know what else to do or where to turn. Please, anything will help. Im not even sure how much we need but we love her so much and desperately want to get to the bottom of this and help her.
This has been such an emotional time. We are truly heartbroken and I feel like this is our last hope. Sasha is fighting, she's truly fighting!! I can see her spirit sometimes. We want our girl who jumps on the table at the window when we walk outside, that runs through the house playing with her cat brother. Even he wants her back to being herself.
We thank you SO much in advance for anything. ❤️❤️
