About this fundraiser

A wonderful day became a tragedy, a very sad event. Sheena went for a c-section, a surgery to deliver a baby, on December 9th.

But she ended up in the Intensive Care Unit, a hospital area for very sick patients.

She had heavy bleeding, called a

hemorrhage. She lost 3.5 liters of blood. She needed an emergency hysterectomy, a surgery to remove her uterus, at only 39 years old. Sheena got several units of blood to keep her alive. She then woke up in the Intensive Care Unit.

When she woke up, Sheena noticed tubes in her throat. This happened because she was intubated. Intubated means a tube was placed in her windpipe to help her breathe.

After understanding where she was, she saw her hand and arm were swollen with blisters.

Sheena was very upset. She knows her hands are essential for her work and to support her family. She is a licensed Barber/ Stylist. That means she cuts and styles hair.

It is hard for her to work with numbness and  nerve damage. The damage came from an IV infiltrated with medicine. This means medicine from a tube went into her tissue instead of her vein. A nurse did not monitor this problem.

The damage was so bad that Sheena's hand was a maroon color 2 inches above her wrist.

One week after leaving the hospital, Sheena had to go back to the hospital. She had an infection in her hand. The infection almost caused her hand to be amputated.

Amputated means cut off.

15 weeks later, her hand is still numb and painful. Any donations will be appreciated to cover expenses. Thank you!
