After being in the ER for 13 hours on Saturday, January 4, she was admitted to the hospital yesterday, January 7. She had been lethargic and listless for 48 hours, and we didn't know what was going on. Thank GOD we have an amazing team of medical professionals who do not anything slip under the radar. They sent her back to the ER to get her admitted. TODAY, she looks so much better. She will be having another transfusion, and she will have more testing done. Jasmin has an awesome nephrologist who is working diligently and compassionately for Jasmin to ensure that she has quality of life and not have to be on dialysis long term. We had a great meeting today with the staff. Please keep Jasmin in your prayers. Yestreday was a very rough day for her emotionally. But today, she is a different person. GOD is so good.

About this fundraiser

Our sweet Jasmin moved to Buffalo, NY, in September, 2024. She was full of hope for a fresh start, for better health care, and had dreams of pursuing college to study nursing or education. She fell in love with the beauty of Western NY, from Niagara Falls to charming trips to Canada. But her health quickly began to decline.

In early 2024, Jasmin began experiencing symptoms of pain and fatigue. Little did we know that her lupus had gone undiagnosed and untreated despite seeking care in Arizona, California, and Mexico. By November 2024, her condition became critical. On November 9, she was hospitalized with severe anemia and acute renal failure. Days later, a brain bleed caused her to undergo emergency cerebral surgery to remove a blood clot. Her lupus, now identified as lupus nephritis, has attacked her kidneys and other vital organs.

Up until November 26, Jasmin was in the ICU. She is now in a different hospital unit undergoing chemotherapy, daily dialysis, and receiving post-surgery care. Her medical team is working tirelessly to stabilize her kidneys and manage her lupus. Once stable, she will need rehabilitation therapy to continue her recovery journey. On the bright side, she is more alert, is able to talk more, and is eating more. Her short term memory remains affected, yet it’s encouraging to see progress.

This fundraiser will help cover overwhelming medical costs,  medications not covered by insurance, rehabilitation, and essential needs. It will also provide essential support for her parents to travel from California to New York to be by her side, whenever possible.

Please consider donating and sharing this link. If you prefer, we have included a way to donate through Venmo. Most importantly, please keep Jasmin and her family in your prayers. This journey will be long and hard, but with your generosity, we can ensure Jasmin has the best possible care and support. Our family will be forever grateful for your kindness and compassion during this critical time. Together, we can help Jasmin on her road to recovery. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Donations are welcome via Venmo: @Jasmin-Huerta-9 (please do it as a gift and not as a “purchase.”)

Please note: Gloria Huerta, who is her aunt and caretaker, is designated as beneficiary for the sole purpose of managing Jasmin’s donations, care, treatments, therapies, etc.
